April 29, 2023 - Tasted at a visit to Stanglwirt in Kitzbühl, Austria. This is an opulent wine. Stone fruit, tangerine, mineral notes of steel and ground rock. A thick texture, boldly structured. Felt less refined than for example the Prager Zwerithaler Smaragd 2020 at this point, but am equally sure that longer term aging will be rewarded.

November 25, 2019 - 95-96pts. This was even better than the Grüner Veltiner from the same vineyard, producer and vintage I had tasted previously. Again this was ready to go from the opening, displaying ripe fruit but good minerality and acidity, and delightful piquancy at the end. Lots of yellow fruit on the palate, all very ripe (probably from somewhat botyrized grapes) - after all, this is a Smaragd. Balanced, round, complex, but with a bit of oak (which I didn't mind). Great wine, but perhaps not for the long run.
