February 25, 2024 - The word "Potpourri" would best describe this wine. It's a bit fruity and heavy on violets with a background of wild herbs, dried flowers, spices, cranberries and orange peels. A good winter wine; it shows mild oak, cocoa powder, dusty tannin, and a very dry finish. Would probably be an excellent match with stewed rabbit, plus baked apples with cinnamon and coriander. This wine has mass-market appeal.

December 7, 2023 - A private Cheval Blanc tasting (Bolomey Wine Imports, Amsterdam, NL): Not decanted. A blend of 72% Merlot and equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon. Lovely fruit on the nose, crushed red berries, floral lift, there is sense of spicy warmth but without excess, pepper, gentle autumnal hints; quite firm tannins but rich and velvety in texture, good weight and freshness; the finish is still tight and feels clenched. Needs time, but I am not sure where this is going. Score assumes the finish turns out alright.

June 3, 2023 - Wonderful right bank Bordeaux. Earthy with notes of forest floor, leather, tobacco, dried flowers and dark fruit. Full body with soft tannins and moderate acid. Great pairing with beef.

Quite enjoyable in a tasting lineup of young ('18,'19) Bordeaux. -

April 26, 2023 - En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Five (Bordeaux): Plummy, ripe, sweet spices, a little jammy, smells quite rich. And so it proves on the palate, dense, black hued fruit, a little red berry and associated freshness, alcohol warmth and talc textured persistent tannins arrive at the same time. With time a touch of jubey fruit and a little iron/blood, slightly dried herbs with time a little bacon fat and red plum. Woof.
