March 9, 2022 - Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting (3/9 Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting, NYC): Nose is a rich cherry liqueur--50% new oak, but it fits the fruit. Palate is tight and tannic as a grand cru should. Some drying formic acid aromas on late finish. Vin de garde, give it 10yrs.

February 11, 2020 - Domaine Tasting at Y Clerget (Pommard): Top of the slope. 50% whole cluster. 50% new oak. Biggest and most dense wine in the lineup. Ripe red cherry with herbs and spice throughout. Intense spice in the long finish. 92-93+

February 11, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 1 (Beaune, France): Barrel sample. This was a bit of an outlier in the 2018 lineup; just clamped down hard and showing a serious amount of tannin. There was a good amount of the Vougeot earthiness here, but I didn't really get much else. 50% new oak, 50% whole cluster, from the top of the vineyard, close to the Mugneret-Gibourg parcel.

January 18, 2020 - PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong): During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Just like Launay-Horiot, Y.Clerget nailed this vintage as well. Great to see the newer producers/nextGen doing so well. Both Volnays did well, the Carelle was a bit denser (93) adn teh Clos du Verseul a bit more airy (93+). Really impressive was the Clos de Vougeot (95) which was dense, fresh and aromatic with cluster and spice notes.

December 13, 2019 - 50% new oak. 50% whole cluster. Thibaud’s Clos Vougeot parcel is located in Grand Maupetul. 5 barrels produced in 2018. 35hl/ha. Dark and sleek fruits with powerful structure. Densely packed array of blackberries, red cherries, mild floral whole cluster note underneath the blanket of tannins. This will require 15years of cellaring minimum. (89/100)
