September 19, 2021 - I liked this quite a bit. I didn't find it to be oxidized in any way. That being said it is a wine to be drunk young. Fairly viscous with nice alpine herbal notes. Some sweet fruit and minerality too. Enjoyable with a Tuna Salad.

November 16, 2020 - I have loved everything I've ever tasted from Le Piane. I liked this.... dunno if I loved it. Oxidative notes of orange marmalade, quince, apples are accompanied by floral and herbal notes. Dry but lots of texture, and sweet cooked fruit notes linger long, as well as subtle herbal bitterness and resounding minerality. Interesting, and almost certainly the best Erbaluce I've ever tasted, but overall I wasn't really convinced.... It did open up nicely, and this might be quite a bit more interesting in a few years, as it is vibrant and capable of holding for at least a few more years.

July 14, 2020 - A private dinner with friends (Restaurant Coulisse, Amsterdam, NL): From centenarian Erbaluce grapes planted on volcanic soils outside the DOC area for Erbaluce di Caluso. Succulent pear and Alpine herbs, delicately honeyed, nice bitters provide structure, nutty finish. Lovely.

June 23, 2020 - Green apple and almond skin. Heavy phenolic quality. Good acidic structure.

May 24, 2020 - Light straw in the glass. Hints of oak and grass, and a subtle green apple on the nose. On the palate it has a plush attack, with a slight oaky roundness followed by a crisp, lingering acidity. Flavours of vanilla from the oak mingle with green apple, some pith and lemon. A slight minerality also adds to the finish. The acidity and the minerality keeps this wine buzzing and counterbalances the oak, which is close to, but not overdone. Could be mistaken for a viré-clessé, but somehow a bit leaner and lighter. I liked it more without food, and so would advise as a cocktail or aperitivo. It doesn't tell me too much of the erbaluce grape, and I wonder if it could be trying too hard to be something it's not, but it is a yummy table wine and should please lovers of Chardonnay that is neither too buttery nor too austere.
