  February 28, 2024 - Bouillabaisse night at the wedge (Wanaka Wedge House, Queensberry, Central Otago, New Zealand): Deep yellow-gold colour points to a Sauternes in full maturity. The nose and palate confirm this, with a fulsome and gorgeous caramel personality with plentiful botryitis character, and a weight to the wine that feels driven by the Semillon. Drinking at full maturity, there s not a sharp edge to this wine - it is all class and refinement. The finish iis lush and velvety and very sweet. Classic flavours. Certainly outstanding, and this will continue to develop well in a cold cellar. Amazing match with an ash covered soft rind goats cheese with fresh figs.

  January 27, 2024 - From 75cl, good cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour. As noted here on 27.12.2019, this is a superb, complex, balanced, botrytis-led Sauternes, in full bloom of maturity. "This botrytis bruiser has a prize-fighter nose of glorious apricot and orange-citrus peel with heady volatile solvent-like high notes. 14% alc and goodness knows how much residual sugar might have dominated the palate, but razor-sharp acidity and mouth-watering aromatic complexity lift the texture so much it appears almost weightless on the mid-palate and the sneaky, long-but-shadowy finish. So much so, you wonder where the contents of your glass could possibly have disappeared to, and whether you can have another one, soon, please." 4 years later now, but I wouldn't change a word. Outstanding wine. 94P
