January 20, 2021 - No, smells tastes and looks like something that falls within the range of Pinot for me. Immediately off pop it was “fun” and light - cocoanut actually, red fruit, and kinda sinewy tannin. But hours later and into the second day it really filled out, shed its fun, deepened and broadened and became much earthier, tannins less tough but still a drying finish, and still nice countering acidity. Perfectly respectable; good, even.

[For the heck of it, had a little bit of this on its second night with some kimchi. Really nice! Made the lingering spice from the kimchi pop out of hiding, made the wine do a big ba-bum of a heartbeat. A pairing to try again.]

January 10, 2021 - I don’t care what the label says, this is not a Pinot noir. Tastes more like Syrah, Zinfandel, or a spicy Cabernet. Dark fruits, spice, oak, some tannins.

Do not buy this if you’re looking for a classic Pinot. It will serve well as a table red wine.

December 5, 2020 - My first Washington State Pinot Noir. First vintage of this new Charles Smith/Brennen Leighton project. Very Burgundian in style. Purple flowers, dried cherries and mushrooms on the nose. Earth and truffle with a touch of black cherry fruit flavors. A bit light on the front pallet but then comes a beautiful and full finish. More organic than I expected. I would like to try this one again in a few years.
