Community Tasting Notes 2

October 27, 2009 - This estate own 9 hectares of vineyards planted mostly to riesling on slate soil. Only 25% of vineyard land in the Mittelrhien is left compared to 100 years ago (most taken for development) so the region does not have the same high number of quality estates as other regions. Weingart is one of the best in the region. Drank this after a dry 2006 Riesling made by Spreitzer. Night and day. This wine lacked some focus. It had good pear and melon notes but was low in acidity in comparison to the sweetness. Some spritz upfront. 86 points.
