Introduction
Terry - thanks again - i just LOVE getting this opportunity not only to taste and chat with the producers but also to bug you and realize that hey - you actually like what you do..who knew? :) (and standing next to WS Bruce Sanderson and writing notes on the same wines was kinda cool)
As far as the vintage - carefull selection is the key - i think Mr Theise did an excellent job for us already - but there are a few that are just MUST HAVE
before anything else i MUST say 2 things.
1) If you haent bought Gysler wines yet you are already late but not too late...not only ridiculous QPR but also some of the best wines as well. a STEAL here from a young man who is doing everything right (including slowly going clean and fully organic. Man i wish he was making wines in the Mosel or Saar's best plots.
2) 3 years ago - the first time i attending this "Riesling Holiday", I asked Terry why i dont get his love for Selbach-Oster. And i didnt get them... that is untill now... having the '02 WS kabinet recently really showed me the elegance of his wines and tasting the young ones now - with much more exp - i can finally "see the light" - there is much purity in these babies that was over my head 3 years ago - they arent flashy, but their quiet integrity and delicate balance win you over with time.

Still flyes under the radar - excellent wines, leaner and with more acidity than the '05. The auslese was rich and full of yummy sticky fruit, the spatlese was lean mean and elegant..pick your type :)

When Terry talks about good people making good wines i always think of Kerpen - this is true Mosel, not mindblowing Prum side, not all-star complexity of Haag..but wines true to their origin and that provide so much pure relaxing pleasure. not to mention that anything labled WEHLENER gets me thirsty - something 'bout that vinyard i guess.

the "problem" is (and this is year in and year out)there is little diff between the kabinet and the auslese - then again that may be a positive. these are RICH wines - not for faint of heart, but for those who love the style - this is pure heaven and cotton candy
