February 22, 2021 - Tasted blind. Wow was this good. It’s so perfectly balanced... inky, tons of cedar, blackcurrant fruit. Really well rounded with sweet tannins and excellent length. I’ve had this wine many times, all of them great, but this one is amazing.

February 21, 2021 - Fill into the neck, pristine cork, double decanted 2 hours before dinner. Deep garnet, with a classic Leoville Barton bouquet. Notes of dried plums, earth, briar patch, crushed stone. Medium bodied, balanced, restrained, silky texture; a bit reserved, savory finish. An excellent Leoville Barton, not showy, and best accompanied with a meal. Seems to be hitting early maturity, but I wonder if there is enough fruit for it to continue to improve.

February 12, 2021 - Opened. Poured 2 cl. Completely closed. 3 hours later. A nice nose. No brett at all (sometimes a problem with Léoville Barton in those years). Red fruits. Very elegant claret. Obviously has years of life ahead. Of course, less complete, less broad than Lafite 1996, but still very satisfying. Fairly high acidity (a 1996 hallmark). Somewhat monolithic. One hour later: The fruit tends to be less broad but is quite beautiful. Cherries. The tannins are more perceptible.

February 2, 2021 - From Magnum, decanted for 2 hours.
Has a sweetness to the fruit, apart from which, just a good classic Claret.
Drinking nicely and everything nicely balanced and integrated.

January 9, 2021 - Continues to impress with blackberry, cassis, tobacco, graphite, cedar and a glorious inner mouth perfume. Reaching peak drinking and should remain here 10+ years. Has evolved nicely since my last note.
