June 5, 2022 - Got a little more youthful as it opened up. This wine is right in the wheelhouse for those who like Napa Cab with a fair of youthful fruit but not a lot of jagged edges. This one had espresso bean, black pepper, blackberry and blueberries influences with a lot of roasted character. There's a lot of fig and smoked black fruits here. Finishes very round and not a lot of sediment here on the finish which is a little bit surprising as I thought that this one would have had quite a bit of tannin starting to drop out of it. I still have one of these left and I'm going to try to hold it for a bit and see how it does. For those who like the more aged Napa fruit profile this one will not disappoint in another 3-5 years. But this one is in a really good spot right now for those who like a good balance of the youthful black roasted fruits and the darker fig and smoky character. Drink or hold.

September 9, 2021 - I complete agree with JADR's note - except no heat in my bottle and the texture was silky smooth.

September 8, 2021 - Covolo's Champagne Campaign (Casa Covolo): I did not take down any specific notes on this wine but it was Silky smooth wine with a dark fruited profile. Very tasty!

January 30, 2021 - Color is a deep ruby garnet. Medium intensity aromas of black currant, stewed blackberry sauce, black cherries, hint of bell pepper, well integrated baking spices, tobacco, cocoa powder.
On the palate a medium body, high acidity that complements the firm but aged medium (+) tannins. The alcohol is still a bit hot. Flavor intensity is medium with notes of black cherry, blackberry, black currant sauce, baking spices, dark chocolate, and hints of tobacco.
Finish is medium/medium(-).
Overall this was pretty easy to drink. It felt a bit hot but very well integrated. The nose was a great but fell a bit short on the palate intensity and depth as the nose did. Otherwise a good wine. Giving it a 30+ min decant helps to open this wine up
