  December 7, 2021 - Epic Napa Trip - Day 3: Tasted at Melka's Lithology winery - Nose showed plenty of ripe black fruit with some anise and tar and some lilac notes. Palate was sweet baked blackberry pie, some chocolate, graphite and sweet oak. This wine is drinking great right now, and also should improve. Even though I rated the two wines the same, I very slightly preferred the tad more structure of the Las Piedras. 94+ to 95 points today.

  December 7, 2021 - Napa trip day 3 (Napa): Drank a small glass over 30 minutes at the winery. The first bottle was corked and it was replaced with this rockstar. Super savory, pleasant green vegetation, pretty fruit. Fruit-forward Napa cocktail wine for sure, but delicious.

  June 20, 2021 - Informal notes at Vine Vault mega tasting 33 wines in all......all wines open 60-90 min by time they were consumed. Most were slow ox'd in bottle, some were double splash decanted, a few were straight decanted.
  
  Well made, red/black fruit profile, quality, maybe a tad thin for To Kalon? I like it but not at this pricepoint.

  June 19, 2021 - Likely a splash double decant, but I didn’t see the preparation. Very deep dark magenta color. Pine needles and dark fruit on the tight nose. Smooth, very dry palate, with sharp acidity. Very firm tannins on the longish finish.
  
  This is going to be terrific in a couple of years. Lots of room to grow. Not yet in it’s true drinking window.
