January 25, 2020 - Blind tasting with buds (Washington, DC): It has some tomato paste and saucy mushrooms on the nose, with juicy plums and mulled black cherries. Plush texture, dusty tannins, fresh acidity. I get saucy plums with smoky, tar, roasted meat elements, anise and clove and pepper. Aged well, but still going. Tasted blind, I guessed a 2001 Southern Rhone GSM.

March 18, 2013 - Gee--I have nothing to add or subtract from my 2/19/2011 note, which shocks me. While I certainly can't recall how this wine tasted two years ago I'd use the same descriptors right now as I did in the prior note.

December 15, 2012 - A strong aroma of smoke on the nose with black licorice, deep dark hues of purple, medium body, and a nicely balanced flavor profile of dark fruits and tannins that shows this wine could still age for years to come.

March 30, 2012 - This tasted surprisingly overripe to me. Perhaps it was cooked as I have never really experienced this in Edmund St. John wines. Drinkable but disappointing to me.
