August 14, 2022 - One bottle at restaurant Da Vinci in Kassel, Germany after a full day at documenta fifteen. They had 2018 on their wine list but recommended to try 2019 instead.

Good food wine, upfront I got notes from maturation in oak barrels (nuts), but also yeast, apple, dark berries, and high minerality. The finish felt somewhat short, but as 2022 is early drinking window, this might improve in the next few years. Falstaff rated 90+ points, WP 89.

April 8, 2022 - Von Schubert: 2021 online vintage presentation: *** Note is based on 0,1l bottles filled about 1 week before the tasting by the winery ***

Interesting to read my note from last year. All is still very true, but this time the oak was very dominant. It overlaps almost everything else. It sure has a great structure and is a serious wine that will need 3-5+ years to fully shine. But I am not sure, if I like it at this stage… 86-87+

Matured in fuder oak, 20 months on its lees. Clear, pale golden color. Clean, medium intense, youthful nose. Spicy, lots of fine oak, pear, fine vegetables.
Dry, medium+ acidity, grip from fine tannin, 13,5% abv. Lean body. Some ripe, sweet fruit, mineral notes. Beautiful texture, quite elegant. Wonderful balance, round, soft. Good length. Keep it for 2-3+ years to fully shine. 88-89+
