February 13, 2024 - Nice cab for weeknights. Light aroma, medium fruit, medium finish. No need to decant

September 12, 2023 - This wine has years and years on it. Put it away. Say goodbye, I’ll see you in a decade.
In seriousness, great balance despite a full blast of California tannin. It went great with a cigar.

July 21, 2023 - Friday Group Brown Bag Tasting (EBCC): Double blind. Notes of licorice, kirsch, brown sugar, chocolate and cassis. Picks up a floral quality as it sits in the glass. Full-bodied and firm with sweet black fruit, barrel spice, licorice and chocolate flavors. Very nice. (R&D)

March 27, 2023 - Somebody brought this to a dinner at our house, and I assumed it was plonk, because it has a cute animal picture on the label. CellarTracker tells me that this is a $60 wine and that people like it, so I had newly elevated expectations and pulled it out to accompany braised pork ribs. The initial impression was favorable -- certainly a dark, rich, New World wine, but with some balance. The longer it was open, though, the more it came to resemble something syrupy that you might pour over ice cream and the less I enjoyed it. I don't altogether regret having opened it -- I had two glasses before it became unpleasant -- but I would be much unhappier if I had paid $60 for it.
