    January 24, 2009 - pop&pour at cellar temp.
nose: definite oak, and a 'decaying leaves' sensation that is pleasant. Reminds me of a fall day. Almost a creme brulee note, too.
palate: A different chardonnay than I'm used to -plenty of oak, but different flavors than simple fruit. Nice acidic component. Alcohol is not too forceful, though it skirts a fine edge (I admit to being sensitive to the alcoholic bite, though). Med-high acidity, med-light mouthfeel, medium finish. The mouthfeel isn't much to write home about, for sure. Finish is dominated by oak, unfortunately. None of the aromas or midpalate flavors can stand up to it. Fun to try, but I'm not seeing this pairing well with much. Maybe an oak sandwhich...86 pts.

72 hours (corked and stuck in fridge)
nose: fabulous. And this is a refrigerator temp. I have no way to describe the flavors, but they are wildly exciting. Little petrol, some glazed apricot, but also this underlying smoky sultry wood sensation. Unlike anything I have smelled previously.
Sadly, the palate doesn't compare to this extraordinary nose. Same rather thin mouthfeel, acidity is keeping the wine from being an oak bomb but...the finish is just off. TOnight it's an 83-84. Ah well.

July 17, 2008 - Frankly, not a style I enjoy: Dominated on the nose and palate by an overipe, almost resin-like note; light, dry and really not all that crisp on the palate. No midpalate, no real texture, either.

December 18, 2007 - Absolutely boring. Very toasty nose with spices and charred wood. The palate is lacking of fruit, depth, and intensity. Nice acidity was the only thing keeping this one alive. Some nice green pear every once in a while pops out with oak spice. Bland mid palate, medium bodied, and underwhelming.

August 30, 2007 - Meerlust dinner (Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong): Bit of a woody nose, not much else. Fresh and balanced but lacking fruit.
