Community Tasting Notes 11

January 3, 2024 - Makes quite the first impression; the aromatics right after I poured the first glass had one of the most vivid scents of rose petals I've ever experienced in a wine. The palate doesn't quite live up to the nose - it still has that bright red and dark fruited character and a lovely florality, but there's also a touch of woodiness on the back end I find a bit distracting and hopefully that'll integrate better with time.

October 28, 2023 - Lovely wine that works very well with food. Youthful, great balance, likely to improve with a bit more age but very approachable now.

January 2, 2023 - Good, maybe even great Barbaresco that I felt I opened 3-5 years too soon at least.

Nose is extremely intense. Oak is really assertive now and covered up some of the floral and fruit aromas I come to Nebbiolo for. Brown spice. Cigar, tobacco, tar, pine resin. Red fruit emerges at the end…Cherry liquor….Let the oak incorporate and reap the rewards in a few years.

Extremely high tannins. Powdery, but massive. More subtle, austere, and restrained flavors on the palate.

December 2, 2022 - Fantastic. Drank over 2 nights but was at its best on night 2 with honey chili porkchops. For us, the tannins and dryness of this wine compliment its overall characteristics and don’t detract one bit. Elegant mouth texture and clarity make the richness and minerality of this wine surprising. This is a serious wine with layers of flavor and textural interest and that needs time to process and enjoy. 3 more bottles to enjoy over next decade. May buy a few more.

December 1, 2022 - Personally, I think this wine needs five more years. I say this due to the rather low flavor-to-density and flavor-to-tannin ratios and the rather high overt oak. For drinking now, I am not a big fan.
