August 28, 2010 - Don't know how the producers can call this "extra dry". This is a sweet, jammy Pinot Noir rose, with lots lots of strawberry, raspberry on the front end, sour cherry on the finish.

October 11, 2009 - Very nice salmon color. Lots of body, with dried berry flavors. Very dry and nice with ceviche. I have been looking for a nice Aussie Rose since finding the Charles Melton has become impossible. Fantastic QPR on this.

September 24, 2009 - Strawberry jam, and altogether pleasant. I wish more New World rose's were like this.

    September 17, 2009 - God-awful. I'd drink kerosene before I'd drink this again.

(Yering Station ED Rosé) UPDATE: Yquem 1934-1982 I’ve had a number of inquiries regarding this event and 18-bottle collection. We’ve stayed out of this until now but it seems enough of you are interested so I secured several reservations for our customer base. From the look of it, various invites and prices have been offered across the US and UK for this same 18 bottle case of wine and subsequent event at Yquem. Even though all the invites are at different price-points, they are for the exact same thing - a Chateau-aged and cellared 18-bottle collection from the 1930’s-1980’s and a private dinner event on October 24th 2008 at the Chateau for those that purchase the collection. After doing my research, all of the offers/invites appear to be legitimate - there is just a huge discrepancy in price. That is not the fault of the Chateau, that is the work of the merchant or negociant. Most of you have seen this invitation already but I will surmise what the purchaser can expect: Yquem Collection 1934 – 1982 and Release Dinner at Chateau d’Yquem One bottle each of original Chateau stock (never moved and stamped for authenticity) - this is the first time Yquem has released library stock of this ilk: 1934 1935 1937 1939 1940 1942 1944 1946 1949 1950 1953 1954 1955 1967 1975 1980 1981 1982 Release Dinner Invitation for (1) seat per collection purchased (you cannot split seats - no exceptions) to the private release dinner at Chateau d’Yquem where each of the 18 vintages in the collection will be tasted from the same library stock as the cases. In a rare occurrence, you will get to try each wine that you purchased. As the LVMH family also owns Dom Perignon and other wine related “interests” I would expect other collectables to make more than a passing appearance (I’ve heard a list of other surprise wine that would make your head spin). Yquem rarely allows access to the public so this event is sure to make wine journal headlines around the world. You will receive a separate private invitation from Yquem (with details) after purchase. Price: $29,999 per 18 bottle set/dinner invitation (yes, that’s 29 thousand, not hundred - you need to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements as well. I’ve seen offers at $40,000 for this exact same thing so this is actually a fairly decent price). Thank you - Jon Rimmerman *************************** Pinot Noir Dear Friends, Is this the best bottle of Pinot Noir you will try under $9? It will be tough to beat. Yes, it’s considered a “rose” but, in truth, it is a first light pressing of the Pinot Noir that goes into the higher-end bottlings from Yering Station - all with only 12.0-12.5% alcohol. This saignee, produced by bleeding the fresh juice with only minimal skin contact to avoid the dark color (thus the pink rose color), is a labor of love for the Yering faithful. It is very expensive to produce and some of the best grapes that would go into their Reserve bottling of Pinot Noir are used on this wine. The critics have noticed. 2006 was a bellwether vintage for this wine and it has been praised around the globe. It is one of the single finest under $10 wines produced from Pinot Noir in the world. I believe this was James Haliday’s highest rated/lowest priced wine in Australia (with a 94pt score and a Top 100 entry) - Josh Raynolds was not far behind. There are not many rose wines that score 90 or higher from Josh regardless of place of origin so this is telling indeed. This wine would have qualified for a Deal of the Year offer but we don’t have very much. Unlike most rose (where 2007 would be current), the “extra dry” is actually kept for a longer time in bottle and 2006 is the current vintage for this summer - it is in no hurry of consumption. Take advantage while we have this terrific wine at a downright insane price - approximately half of what is costs in Australia: ” VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for crazy price/value relative rarity and special summer quality ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance directly from the source 2006 Yering Station Pinot Noir Rose “ED” (extra dry) (if we run out, Wine.com has a few cases as well - otherwise, compare at up to $20+) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 12/person until we run out Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus6989
