August 1, 2018 - Dinner at MingHin (Chicago, IL): At this point, I think this has seen some better years. It's still a good bottle, and shows surprisingly dense and tight for the vintage (and I got to this wine much closer to the end of the evening), but a lot of the fresher flavours are on the downswing. Some black fruit if you're looking for it, and none of those nasty rotty flavours that sometimes poke out in 1997.

November 17, 2013 - Drinking perfectly right now. Typical aged pinot noir notes. Roses, pot-pourri. Cherry, smoky and earthy notes. Finish is a little short but what a pleasure it is to drink this wine with such elegance.
I don't think this needs to age more.

March 17, 2013 - As good as the previous bottle. Red fruit, very mineral with light earthy notes. Fruit is generous and round but not stewed and shows good acidity considering the vintage.
    A great bottle.

January 14, 2013 - Really a pure and lovely nose. Floral with rose notes mixed with elegant dark and red fruits. Light earthy, mushroomy notes. A whiff of menthol. Given the vintage, surprising high acidity on the palate. Very elegant and feminine Volnay, showing maybe a little more red berries on the palate.
    Overall a very nice Volnay.
