Community Tasting Notes 4

July 3, 2023 - Blind Tasting at Mi Casa: Did not peg this as CA SB and if I didn't have certain hints, I might have pegged it closer in style to a New Zealand SB or Margaret River SB. Tropical fruits, some grass, Hi-chew candy. This is more my kind of SB as opposed to say a style like Accendo produces. Perfect summer beverage!

July 3, 2023 - Blind pinot tasting (The Sumoba compound): Nose of grass, a creamy confectionery candy made of vanilla but not in a way that was too sweet, blended with a bit of ripe cantaloupe.

Ripe and gently spiced melon flavors with a bit of stone fruits. Gentle earth mixed with some melon notes, as if someone were preparing melons on a forest floor, leaving behind the rinds and accidentally dropped melon flesh.

This wasn't showing as I had hoped it would, like when I first tasted this at the estate. Familiar flavors were here but were a bit disjointed. Maybe temperature played a factor here. It did show a bit better after spending sometime in the fridge.

January 22, 2023 - This is very good. Won't be confused with New Zealand. It's big, intense, and yet still maintains the various fruit nuances. Very good complexity.

June 28, 2022 - Napa day trip (Adamvs, Almacerro) (Napa): Amazing aromas of quince and pear, clean minerals notes, deep and clean grass, white and yellow flowers, and a gentle subtle honey note but with a nice intensity. As it sits in the class and comes closer to room temp, there is a nice gentle toast note that comes around.

Flavors of white clean fruits like sand pear with clean and gentle minerals. Lightly soft yellow fruits, soft creaminess, nicely hay, dried earth, and nice salinity as it comes to room temp.

I don't have as much SBs as I would like but I don't think this is your ordinary SB. The ones I've had are usually lighter fare but this one has a lot of good things going on and constantly kept my interest piqued. This isn't light but also not considered heavy, evolved very nicely in the glass and was enjoyable at both cooler and room temps. So curious how this will be with more age.. you can age SBs, right?
