February 12, 2024 - Napa and Sonoma, January 2024: Tasted at winery.

    Barrel sample.

On the nose, notes of concrete and red cherry. Mineral-forward smell.

Showing early signs of promise, easy to drink, but a bit more fruit forward than others.

Obviously will need years to evolve.

November 24, 2023 - Tasted from a barrel sample at the winery. Fragrant, pronounced floral and fruity scent on nose, strawberry and blueberry, licorice, hawthorn, and hints of brioche. Too early to give a rating now but I would expect a 97-98 rating.

November 14, 2023 - barrel sample. elegant, beautiful fruit, minerally, tannic but very fine tannins.

October 9, 2023 - (Barrel sample) Gorgeous pure Cabernet fruit. Medium plu richness and great harmony. The finish lasts for over a minute. This is already great - should be epic. (98+)

September 7, 2023 - Napa day trip (Promontory, Dakota Shy, Detert) (Napa): Fragrant and intense aromas while keeping light on its toes. Fresh and prickly red berries with still brightly green stems, in a good way, like how streaks of graphite in a red adds complexity.

A clean purity of red berries. Fresh acidity, intense and taught red raspberries and lively cranberries on the palate. Beautifully bright and even dusty minerals. Leaves a pleasantly steeped tea and a trail of minerals on the finish.

Full of vibrant life, so youthful and wild. May be difficult to taste now (I didn't mind it, but I'm biased towards youthful wildness in wine) but will be exciting to see how a few more years in cask will soften this up.
