March 22, 2024 - Petit Crenn (Hayes Valley, San Francisco): Nose: Lemon zest, ripe pears with deep earth, dry stone and hay. Light notes of dark honey too. Aromatic earthy notes add nice interest.
Palate: Deep and gently ripe pears, a light but firm spiced oak, earth and hay. Bitter, heavy minerals linger onto the finish. A bit oxidative in a good way, with a subtle hint of of a struck match. Kinda crazy how this almost has a bit of a dark Chardonnay profile. Must be the way the wine was treated.
The oxidative note also reminded me a bit of the kind I get from a Selosse.. what a tease. -

March 1, 2024 - Very much in the domaine's style, probably more a Von Winning than a sauvignon blanc. Flowery, herbal, plenty of citrus, very straight acidity, but there is a creamy feel as well. Slowly entering it's drinking window, still quite young.
