November 25, 2020 - Method: tasted blind; 55 degrees; Burgundy glass
Look: medium gold; a ton of slow, skinny legs
Nose: bruise yellow apple, light brioche, light minerality, light salt, parsley, taragon
Palate: bruised yellow apple, salt, minerality; long finish of pepper, taragon; dry; medium+ body; high acidity; low- tannin; low+ heat
Overall thoughts: This has nice body and some interesting notes, but more heat than I think is acceptable in a white wine. For me, this is a mediocre wine, and everyone in the blind tasting was extremely disappointed when they found out what this was. -

November 9, 2020 - Lots of rich fruit with great floral aromatics. Kept morphing in the glass from pear to apple to butterscotch on the finish. Definitively something to savor as it evovles

October 15, 2020 - Served 45 minutes after opening. Really sweet nose of bubblegum, cotton candy, and vanilla, with some acetone. Also sweet and butter notes. After 2 hours a little metallic. Still some acidity on the palate and even a little grippy, and later slightly bitter. So exotic and interesting!

November 16, 2019 - USA Syrah tasting in Vino and Friends. (By JK in Maastricht): Beautiful and complex bouquet with minerals, vanilla and oak. Same on the palate. A mouth full of wine with good acidity and a firm amount of alcohol. Firm and very special wine.

July 19, 2019 - Drank last nite at Copake with the kids on a whim. Still showing great--I'd forgotten the blend here, but the Rousanne is pretty obvious. Floral, spice, buttery popcorn, tropical fruit and apricots here. This is a big wine but plenty of acidity to offset the weight and heat. Distinctive and special

1/26/2009 (link) 92 points(Sine Qua Non The Hoodoo Man) Light butter yellow color; tart lemon, lemon rind, mineral nose with a floral quality and touch of VA; slightly oily textured, tart, narrow, concentrated lemon rind, vanilla and mineral palate; medium-plus finish (WOTF; the concentration made the Copain Roussanne seem watery by comparison)
