November 11, 2023 - Etna Rosso: pale yellow green in the glass. fragrant, aromatic, green plum. _Almost_ noxious, in a cheap pub chard kind of way. Greengage on the palate, under ripe. Short finish. Not the most complex thing. I wasn't very happy with this. Alessandro says that usually biancos are much more restrained and mineral, and these vines are in the south so the grapes could have been hotter and riper than usual. But it tasted underripe to me, I didn't get any sweet or tropical notes. So maybe it's just hot winemaking? A bubbly hot ferment? I didn't mind the fullness, but the finish was short, it didn't match up to me

November 11, 2023 - WineEP Etna lunch (Terra Rossa): Sourced from vines in Biancavilla, on Etna's southwest slope between 700-800m, and in Belpasso, on the southern slope between 600-700m, IDDA Bianco is 100% Carricante vinified and aged in a combination of stainless steel and 10hl barrels. Immediately inviting, with a lovely, creamy honeysuckle-infused nose. Very tempting on the palate too, with plenty of yellow/green fruit, a touch of vanilla on the finish, and a creamy, approachable texture that betrays the oak maturation. It did seem to tauten and become stonier with time in the glass, but this wine had less of the steely minerality I'm used to from Carricante grown on the northern slopes. Still a lovely start to proceedings, though.

July 26, 2023 - Honestly, I thought this was below average Etna Bianco / carricante. It has very little character.

April 11, 2023 - Light golden and some dry extract seems visible in the glass. Tropical yellow fruits on the nose, medium bodied, dry with slightly saline midpalate and nice persistence. Very quaffable.

March 26, 2023 - Heater week; 3/26/2023-4/3/2023 (Chicago, IL): It tastes like a volcanic white. I really don't know how better to describe it. Good acidity, moderate aromatics, and a pleasant salinity as well. In a Sicilian lineup, I'm not sure this would stand out as well as the MSRP should demand, but there's no denying the quality in the bottle here.
