  September 7, 2023 - Napa day trip (Promontory, Dakota Shy, Detert) (Napa): Quiet aromas of dark plums with dry earth, and a bit of minerals. Quiet and almost mute.
  
  Thank goodness the palate wasn't as shy as the nose *insert rimshot*. Dark blueberries, deep earth, a gentle tar note (almost like charcoal even), and nicely bitter oak. Good delivery on the mid-palate but not as strong on the finish, fades a bit on the finish.
  
  All grapes sourced for this wine are valley floor fruit. Not sure if this was beginning to close down or in a phase, but this seemed like it didn't want to show up to the party, like it didn't wanna go out to socialize but ended up being dragged out. Was told by the host that the fruits sourced weren't affected by the fires, which seems to hold true as no flaws were detected. Maybe a few years in bottle should give it some energy. 94+ for now.

  September 7, 2023 - Composed of valley fruit. This wine unfortunately did not do it for me and very much preferred their 21 Napa bottling. This was a challenging vintage for everyone and I am not holding any punches back in saying that this was a tough wine for me in the lineup. Compared to say Macdonald or VHR's 2020 bottling, this was a step behind.
