March 11, 2023 - This is now starting to show a little aged funk around the edges while retaining its core of densely packed fruit. In fact it's denser than I remember it ever being. The fruit still has plenty of youthful sweetness in the middle but around the edges it's more of a patina of dehydrated blackberry and blueberry skins with some smoky, gravely elements. And it is demonstrating pretty well what makes 2005 so great, in that it's just starting to show aged complexity but also fresher and richer than many of the vintages that followed.

April 24, 2022 - Good: earthy, slightly rustic Pernand 1er, sandy tannins still assertive. Drink up, I think; fruit stamina to my sensibilities is weakening.

August 29, 2021 - Medium ruby. Subdued palate. The bright sour cherry acidity palate profile takes over the balance somewhat, and the overall sense is that this is awkwardly austere, lacking freshness and body. Tannins still in evidence but are very fine and add some interesting complexity - mineral skein backdrop and a moderately long final.

Got the feeling this was too tight and perhaps too early but for some reason only had a single bottle of this.

August 7, 2021 - As previous note. Just past peak but very pleasant. Had with crab penne.

June 27, 2021 - Excellent Pinot Noir, precise and focused. Perhaps not as immediately fragrant as the last bottles, but still in a very good place at the moment, freshness seemingly intact after all this bottle age. Drink or hold for a couple more years, but I would not expect further evolution. Delicious!
