September 25, 2022 - Interesting sample of how well highly modernist - in terms of use of new barrique - ages, in a relatively early maturing vintage. In this wine, the profile is heavily influenced by oak notes. Too much so, in my view, overwhelming a wine that is also showing the effects of age, with heavy bricking. The bottle has been well stored, and was in good condition. Not a bad wine, but lacking typicity, showing its age, and in general not to my taste.

September 9, 2022 - Superb Barolo that has past its peak … Raisin, leather, strawberry, cherry, tobacco, tar, medium body, dry long finish. Wining with Bas.

January 15, 2018 - Showing reasonably well, but made in a style I enjoy less than I did earlier in my Nebbiolo journey. 98 was not a great vintage, and not meant to age for an extended period. This wine is a bit past peak at this point, showing garnet with ample bricking. High viscosity, with prominent tobacco and tar, rose petal with tangible oak notes overlaying the rusty fruit. Drink up.

August 22, 2014 - Medium deep garnet in color with slight bricking at the edges. Forward, fragrant & attractive nose of complex & mature ripe red fruit aromas of red cherries, raspberries & currants with spices, floral notes of roses, anise, tar, dusty, earthy, mint, some leather, minerals, dried herbs & hints of toasty oak in the background. Medium-deep bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured, well balanced, mature & complex, ripe red fruit flavors of sweet cherries, tart cranberries & currants with herbs, minerals, anise, spices, dusty, earthy and toasted oak. Lingering silky finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and airing and although it has the structure continue at this present stage of development for a few more years, I would not expect any further development.
