Community Tasting Notes 4

April 4, 2019 - The wine was medium garnet in colour and offered cherry, mixed berries, rusty nail, moss, forest floor, some coffee and some chocolate on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed cherry, berries, plum, lots of Pinot spice, rusty nail, iron and stony minerality as well as coffee, chocolate, moss and earthy notes, with lively acidity and very good length of the rusty nail- and iron-infused finish. The tannin was still present. The fluid, medium-bodied wine benefited from aeration and gained weight and grew on me over time. I loved the complex, mossy, mineral, Pinot-spice profile and the positive tension. More open and complete and even better on day two. I would hold for another five years to soften the tannin. A very good Pinot!

May 14, 2014 - Monthly Tasting Group HWS #089; Germany: Pfalz. (by MM): A lot of stone minerals in the bouquet. Also on the palate, some spiciness, soft acidity and tannin. Although the wine is completely ready now, it improves in the glass.

May 24, 2012 - Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2012-06; Germany, Pfalz (By MM): A bit stinky bouquet with flint stone minerals and smoke. On the palate intense ripe fruits, some bitterness and a bit drying but soft tannin.

April 7, 2011 - Monthly tasting club LTC; Germany; Pfalz (My first invitation for this group) (@ MM): Very special and a bit stinky bouquet with toasted oak. On the palate there is some licorice, but overall the fruit has some problems with the 2 years of new oak the wine has had. It is something special. Not sure if I like it.
