January 18, 2024 - Turn on the heaters (Chicago, IL): 2015 base, disgorged March 2021. No. 110. I liked this a fair bit more than a 2014 base Enfers around a year ago. I wonder if that bottle had just gotten lost in the fray. In any case, this is full and rounded, with a deep concentration and weight, and of course there is a distinct vinous, still wine quality here, that makes it almost better to drink this with a generous amount of air at a warmer temperature than most Champagne. This has great weight and density, and there is an almost oily minerality to this that I really enjoy.

November 3, 2022 - Everyone at the table seemed to immediately make appreciative noises when this was poured. It was one of those no doubters, with an obvious “it” quality, and while it didn’t exactly show oxidative, it was ready from the get go, with good acidic freshness supporting. I’ll probably open my other bottles within the next few years to ensure that acidic support remains because the fruit is showing beautifully, already pretty rounded and alluring. Excellent and up to the hype this time. 2015 base, 48 months elevage.

September 1, 2022 - 48 months on the lees. Very mineral-y nose with lemon, apple, toast, biscuit, herbs and smoke. It’s elegant and understated, yet very complex. The palate has a ton of acidity with more lemon notes, lime, grapefruit, green apple, and chalk. Long finish. Outstanding Champagne that’s still quite young. 95++

July 10, 2022 - 2015 base year, aged 48 months on lees. Super blessed to try Roises and Enfers side by side -- and just a week after drinking a bottle of Pierrieres, from the same vintage. A major treat.

Compared to the Enfers, this was rounder and more concentrated. Depth of fruit, but perhaps a bit out of balance at present -- at least without a decant. Showing its reputation as from a much warmer, sunnier terroir. Good but my least favorite compared to Enfers and Pierrieres.
