April 23, 2021 - I guess it depends if you like mature wines as to whether this is a hit or a miss for you! I quite like this 2006 - I have been fortunate to have drunk a 12 bottle case over the last 10 years plus. This is definitely mature and is showing deep rich dark and bitter fruits. Nose has decay and menthol to the fore. Tannin has pretty much fully evolved. Not drunk with food as yet but guessing rich cheeses would be a good bet. You definitely miss any bright fruits due to age but I also don’t think it’s past it! However I think that 2008 and 2009 are drinking better!

November 3, 2020 - Election night with Nita's terrific burger sliders. I bought 3 btls on release at a weak moment trusting a fairly reliable critic's raving tasting notes & score. This is my 2nd of 3 and while its tasty its also ubber modern and one of those Italian wines that comes to mind in the movie Mondovino where the director pursues the notion that many a great wine has been "Parkerized" and neutered by too much oak. This wine taste and feels like it could come from just about anywhere. Its a winemaker's wine. Technically good, flavorful but lacking terroir expression. That said, many wine drinkers will love this a lot more than I do. Easily 90pts plus for the right palate. This was one those wines over the years that drives home to me how meaningless critic's scores can be. I trust my palate and producers who prove themselves to me vs. critics. Paid $45 drinks like $15-$25 tops.

    Impeccable.

(Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little radish; quite floral (lilac & panzees); black currant; some creaminess (vanilla / mocha) on the back-end; PALATE-more of a New World play (more like a Napa Cab or Spanish Priorat); more creaminess; more Oak characteristics coming through (egg nog and wood); nice cinnamon aspect; big and meaty wine; licorice on the back-end; undeniable vanilla/mocha with red fruit (strawberries); it's structured and well made, but a little too New World for me; I like it, but it's not changing my life; AG-94; GV-89+
