June 30, 2019 - A very beautiful wax-sealed double Magnum may have been overexposed to heat in its final few hours. The juice was slightly oxidized and bricking around the edges. The cork was completely saturated and the vino was served at maybe 70 degrees. Not ideal. My guests enjoyed the WOW experience but the vino did not have that characteristic perfectly aged “floral ruby red garnet” that I’ve witnessed many times previously. It was drinkable but unfortunately not a benchmark.

December 19, 2015 - IN fill. Brick color, slightly brown rim. Opens with a volatile note, gets aired for 2 hours. Became better and nose showed tar, dried roses, balsamico, mint and autumn leaves. Fairly complex. The palate is somehow disappointing compared to the nose. A bit sweet, lean and a dominating acidity which makes it all seem a bit out of balance. Good length, drying finish. Tannins are polished down and dusty. Fully mature, drink now.

November 4, 2006 - Piedmont Night at the Kirkpatricks' Home (Newburyport, MA): Piedmont Night. Decanted approx 3 hours. Single vineyard Barbaresco. Color brick. Not opaque like the other wines of the night. Nose of subtle red fruits (raspberry) which carried onto the palate. This was interlaced with some anise and oak. Tannins were present but were soft, mouth-coating. Finish was nice. I thought this was a very elegant, enjoyable wine.
