August 19, 2022 - Festival of Phil (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): From Coravin. Meaty, savoury, slightly sour smelling red over black fruits, a little pepper and leather. Fruit is almost a little jubey on the palate, black hued with chalky, drying, grainy tannins, then swing by but the fruit, assisted by the alcohol, persists and carries long. Nice.

August 28, 2021 - Appearance: dark cherry core, ruby rim. Not tawny but a hint of age starting to show. Nose: blackberry, blue fruit and sweet oak (but the oak is not dominant). Graphite, baking spices, dark chocolate, black olive and a whiff of aniseed.
Palate: medium bodied, very smooth. Soft, velvety tannins. Nice harmony and a decent finish. For mine this still has a few years left. Excellent.1 person found this helpful Comment -

August 16, 2021 - It is a crossbreed between a Heathcote and Adelaide Hills shiraz, more leaning towards Heathcote. But it does have its own voice and this bottle did sing.
The cork was in immaculate condition, amazing for a 23 year old wine from Oz. Penfolds could have learnt a thing or two from Seppelt. Still beautifully dark red, the outer rim had a tinge of brown indicating its age.
The nose was still fresh, grounded in dark fruits, hint of spice and some toastiness and vanilla. The oak while present never dominated. Subtle tannin and with acidity, the body floated above the taste buds until it hits you with its power and alcohol. The finish was beautifully perfumed and structured. Highly recommended.
Drink now or 5+ years from now. Should be decanted before consumption.1 person found this helpful Comment -

June 23, 2019 - Cork, 14.5% alc.
Dark, bricking red. Cork in excellent condition; little staining, firm but pliable. Good seal.
Blackberry, lavender, pan juices, sultana, and a slight alcoholic lift.
On the palate, blackcurrant, leatherwood honey, redcurrant, and crushed autumn leaves, combine for a complex wine of interest. Fine tannins. The alcohol on the nose presents more like a heightened star anise flavour on the palate.
Opinion: Lovely wine, with lots of life left. Held up well over 14 days. Next bottle in 5 years. -

December 30, 2017 - Nearly 20 years old and simply spectacular!
Massive dark fruit, glorious texture and exceptionally long finish.
Wish we had more but alas all good things must end.
