December 18, 2020 - Leather, dried blueberries and dark cherries on hints of green pepper, old wood shed, and plenty of acidity and tannin left to keep this going. My opinion is drink now, but it held up well in the decanter, so if you like more development, you might wait a bit longer.

January 1, 2012 - New Year's Day Party (Our House): This was my favorite of the day - decanted for 4 hours - strong, full bodied and well integrated - lightly chewy with a very small hint of pepper - definitely worth buying and putting more away. This was my only bottle.

December 5, 2011 - Terroir-istes International - Italy-Piedmont-Barolo-Aldo Conterno (Rodwell House): A rich, bright purple-red with distinct aromas of herbs, forest flowers, mineral white pepper and blackcurrant leaves. The wine unfolds on the palate with bright, delineated fruit enhanced by a crisp, fresh, mineral-edged acidity. It lacks a little depth but has soft, approachable tannins that have a width to them and last pretty long on the palate.

September 26, 2011 - Tastes similar to Carmenere, with a punchy lavender nose and lasting prickliness on the finish, but a little less tart/bite overall. This wine is asking for a BBQ, and would hold up well with one.

August 23, 2010 - Walker Trade Show (Newport): Funky. Smokey and tobacco nose. Delicious on the palate, in a really SA funky kind of way. Very good. 89+
