Community Tasting Notes 5

October 23, 2014 - Maybe this has lost some of it's complexity. The fruit intensity is coming down, but there's still not much to compensate the loss. That said this is still very nice stuff with gunpowder, jalapeno, lime, salt liquorice and hay dominating the show. Steely and minerally. Good stuff, but I think I'll hold to my last bottle to see if the palate broadens a bit.

February 17, 2013 - A great value Semillon - like a plum, I served this way too cold and it was very lean and a little boring to begin with - giving the impression that it was past it.

However after an hour or so, the Margan opened up with a delicate floral, lime character. Supported by fresh acidity and a solid Melon background throughout the palate.

Surprising long fruit finish, with a hint of honeysuckle.

I would suggest drinking this now whilst it is still holds onto its primary fruit - however, it could develop that classic waxy edge with in a few more years.

March 7, 2012 - Rich but delineated nose of yellow and green fruit, gooseberries and melon as well as notes of elderflower, honey, lemon, juniper, spice, nettle, cream, vanilla and dusty earth.
Delightfully vibrant dry palate with racy cut to the mid-weight citrusy fruit. Herbaceous, lemony and very minerally with some notes of hay, nuts and yeera. Long.
Drinking nicely now, but I'm happy to have some bottles for future - since there's a load of structure for aging. Complex and enticing.

October 5, 2011 - très vert, très jeune, mais c'était juste pour tenter un jeune semillon de hunter valley :)

December 17, 2010 - Very youthful and needs time to really develop. Very intense dried citrus fruit and honeyed aromas; nut and chalk aromas too. Sharp and slightly bitter on the palate. Bags of acidity. Rich bold fruits. Rainwater over rocks minerality really comes through.
