November 8, 2019 - Another (my last!) bottle of this: remains youthfully pale straw colored; beautifully fresh, floral and serious nose of crisp apple, crushed stone with peach and citrus. Great extract and fresh acidity which keep it on track, neither stern nor flabby. Lots of class evident, gran cru quality.
I had forgotten the background on this family and was puzzled again by the purity of Jean-Marc’s wines compared to those of the old family’s (Henri Boillot) heavy-handed use of new oak in comparison. Reminded that this is Henri’s grandson who inherited some of Henri’s vineyards as well as 1/3 of Etienne Sauzet’s (not a bad break, huh?). His maternal grandmother was Sauzet’s daughter. He worked with his granddad for many years before becoming winemaker for Olivier Leflaive. Not sure what they do at the old estate (Henri B) but apparently vinifying his wines he uses just 30% new oak.

November 9, 2018 - Very on form at the moment! In many ways, picture perfect Puligny style fruit of flint, honeyed apple and a drop of lemon mixed with stone fruit influences. Lots of expression on the mid-palate but fresh, lifted and very harmonious. 93+

November 9, 2018 - This was shockingly good stuff! Deep straw with just slight golden tinge; classic tart apple, crisp, floral and slightly honeyed character, some lemon and crushed stone. Some white peach and hints of apricot (from age?) With some almost pungent upper tones from mid-palate onward. Dry extract sort of power and really pretty Chablis-like. Overall, excellent and in a great place right now. Now that "I've cleaned through most of my '06s (some were at death's door), will focus now on my '07s (a very underrated WB year).

January 19, 2018 - Medium apple/straw color, beautiful lemon and lanolin with some brisk acidity holding tension against some pleasant creaminess. Purslane’s note is pretty spot-on still.

June 23, 2015 - This wine brilliantly expresses the uniqueness of Chardonnay from Burgundy France, walking an almost impossible line between richness and driving vivacity. Amazingly bright and mouth filling lemon taste, every bit as refreshing as a Loire Sauvignon Blanc. Yet the wine has a caressing texture and a cream component that deliciously matches seafood and any butter flavored food, such as snails and cheese crusted stuffed eggplant. Sublime and savory by itself, but so wonderful with foods that we often just kept coming back to this as the hands down best matching wine. Nobody owns enough of this wine.

(J.M. Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts) Very light yellow color; fresh lemon, citrus, tart lemon, hazelnut nose; tasty, poised, tight, tart lemon, fresh lemon, mineral palate with oodles of extract; needs 2-3 years; medium-plus finish 93+ points (in blindtasting of six '07 and '08 Chassagne- and Puligny-Montrachets, this one ranked 3rd for the group, 4th for me, and garnered a total of 55 points)
