December 31, 2023 - this bottle was cooked. tasted 40+ years old with so little flavor. Such a shame.

May 12, 2022 - Glad I waited on this. The 2004 Barolos are hitting on all cylinders right now; like the 2004 Pio Cesare Barolo enjoyed six months ago, this was magnificent. Maturing, intense red fruit aromas and flavors; broad complex notes; completely balanced and integrated oak, tannin, acid, and fruits; and a very lengthy finish. Decanted in a small Riedel decanter, enjoyed from a Riedel New World Pinot Noir glass, and paired with Paccheri and meat sauce with a garden salad. At seventeen years this is at, or close to peak; should drink well for another 4-5+ years. Outstanding.

February 12, 2022 - Tremendous…. Classic. Licorice, rose bright cherry. Perfect balance. Drinking very well now but will hold for some time. Drank along side 2000 Unico. Table was split between which bottle was preferred… Dinner at Wink.

(Ceretto Bricco Rocche) Ceretto blends grapes from a small plot in Rocche with those from its Bricco Rocche vineyard on the other side of the road. Aromas of toasted oak blend with chocolate syrup and crème caramel. The palate is soft, supple, and full, with a caramelized-fruit core and herbaceous, minty overtones. Tannins become prominent only on the long finish, as new flavors emerge until the very end. Terroir: Vigneto Rocche

(Ceretto Barolo Bricco Roche) Tightly wound at this point—everything is locked down. Intense rockiness on the nose, like wet stones after a spring hailstorm. This is not a rustic style of Barolo for me; with the gravitas that it projects, it is fashioned to stand on the stage with other great wines of the world. Come back to it in a few years; the vintage has been wonderful. Terroir: Bricco Rocche
