March 4, 2019 - While I more recently acquired a few '07s of this, this was the only one of these we had that we brought home from the winery some years ago. I knew they could age, but I wasn't exactly sure what to expect at this point, given the CT window ending in '14 and no recent notes, and then the cork snapped, requiring some filtering into the decanter. Well, the wine inside is perfectly fine and not tired at all, though I'd probably not sit on them more than a few more years at this point.
Dense, opaque coloring still, with garnet edges. Aromas of black and blue fruits, spearmint, eucalyptus, potting soil, green pepper, and tobacco. Medium (+) body, medium acid and finish, and flavors of cassis, charred green peppers, and lingering minerality and light bitterness. Perfect with barbacoa tacos tonight. -

December 5, 2014 - Bottled opened up after 30 minutes. The finish is much smoother and fruited than the initial sip. Wonderful finish.

October 12, 2014 - I thought this may have been past its prime, but it wasn't. This is really smooth and very easy drinking. Slight tannins indicate this may have a little time to live.
