October 9, 2016 - Monthly Tasting Group: Northern Rhone (Tilia, Mpls): This had that great savory character I want in my syrah, but the alcohol was showing just too much. I suspect a vintage issue as the fruit just couldn't hold up.

May 2, 2016 - Fine bottle. Good black fruit sweetness sits on top of a layer of bacon, coffee and meat. A bit of oak suggests a more modern interpretation. That said, there is nothing over cooked here. Managed the vintage well, this was fresh, complex and quite delicious. (93)

July 1, 2013 - Flawed... BADLY. Tasted of iodine and algae. Too bad - was looking forward to this bottle. Cork was in immaculate condition and I got this in 2010 from a store. I wonder if it may have been stored upright the whole time with a dry cork...

December 5, 2011 - shocker on how it opened up from unimpressive tight, smokey not particularly noteworthy syrah to beautiful nose of flowers and fruit. Nice fruit and tannin but little low acidity prob from hot vintage that warrants drinking in its youth for this cote rotie

October 4, 2010 - Terroir-istes International - France, Rhone, Cote Rotie (Rodwell House): Medium to deep garnet with a narrow orange rim. The bouquet is piquant and lifted with oak spices, orange, black pepper and raspberries. As it opens, this veers to blackberry, more cinnamon and nutmeg-baking spices. Dances on the nose!
An intense, invigorating entry, the wine is medium to full bodied, with a lovley rich sumptuous texture and packed with fruit and spices: blackberry, pepper, dark chocolate and medicinal qualities.
Very appealing, the vintage feels warmer and riper, evidenced by warm glycerol to the alcohol. There is a touch of smoke, and more medicinal/garrigue elements towards the finish and the wine finishes long. Complex and seemingly ambitious, the wine hasn't quite the cut and dimensionality of a single site but is still a smart wine.
