Community Tasting Notes 4

February 8, 2024 - Oxidized, aldehydes of marzipan, but still a lot of structure in the tannins, cork was soaked so probably a bad bottle

  • jackfughy Likes this wine: 92 points

June 8, 2015 - Amazing wine silk tannins still warm. A lots of concentration.
    Ready to drink now.

January 5, 2009 - Great concentration with plentiful blackfruit. Excellent potenital but needs a couple more years.

October 24, 2008 - Loads of black fruits on the attack transition to tobo and cigar ash. The profile easily bespeaks the blend of 80% grenache and 20% mouvedre. The nose is full of lavender. Broad and inviting on the palate with a traditional, rustic charm on the finish. The balance of this wine is emphasized even more upon discovering it’s 14% alc. Not a trace of heat. Learning that 3/4 of the vines date from 1925 is pretty cool. With assorted cheeses and crusty bread. Recommended.

A word about the back label: Easy and straight forward info advising the reader of the varietals, the blend, the age of the vines, where and how it’s farmed (biodynamically on the slopes of Dentelles de Montmirail) and by whom (Christine and Eric Saurel). Lots of good information that gives a good toe hold for building on more if the inclination strikes.
