April 6, 2023 - Feels still young like a 05 or 07. Lots of fruit, cherry, and red fruits. Almost no tertiaries. Started to fade after some 30 minutes. We vacuumed the bottle after each glass, that was the right decision.

    October 9, 2022 - klassischer Stil.
    Ordentliche Qualität aus kl Jg
Hat sich gut gehalten , keineswegs überreif/-lagert.
Altersbedingt fehlen Frucht und Kraft. relativ kurz

February 20, 2021 - Some old(-ish) Bordeaux from Alan's collection: Part of a mini-tasting of fairly random aged Bordeaux. This one served with the main course of beef roulade.

The fill level was well into the neck. The cork came out cleanly with my Durand, and had trace of wine about one-third up, but was not heavily soaked.

The nose is classic Margaux: slight sweet rich dark fruits (blackberries etc). However, the palate was initially not well-balanced, with acidity overwhelming the fruit and minimal evidence of tannins remaining. The finish was clean, but still a little acidic. It was OK with the rich beef, but not great.

We revisited the last third of the bottle maybe 60-90 minutes later with some cheese. Now we found the acidity somewhat moderated, still decent amounts of fruit, and a little more tannin showing. At this point is was a reasonably well-balanced food wine. If I had another bottle I would try decanting it for a while to see if it continued in a good direction.

EDIT: Alan tells me that the last glass from the bottle was, remarkably, still holding up well 48 hours later!

December 27, 2019 - Bottom neck fill. Another nice 1994 drinking very well now. Bought this given the recent reviews here. Pnp and this is immediately showing very well. A healthy garnet color without browning. nice red and dark fruit, forest floor, resolved tannins. A great claret which pairs beautifully with food now. Not entirely at the level of a recent 94 Lagrange (St. Julien) but still recommended if you can get this around the $40 mark. Starts to fade around the 90 min mark with initially coffee notes from the toast becoming more prominent and then acidity taking over. Would recommend to pnp over dinner/lunch and not wait too long.

June 26, 2016 - Sensationally high fill. Nose very margaux, delicate, crips cassis and cranberry fruit, in finesse. Very long, very stylish, purity, much better than expected. Give this a little air. No hurry.
