July 5, 2023 - In the early 1990s, Bordeaux luminaries Bruno Prats (Château Cos d'Estournel) and Paul Pontallier (Château Margaux) discovered the high caliber of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile's Alto Maipo region. They partnered with their colleague Felipe de Solminihac, a renowned Chilean agronomist, oenologist and winemaker in the region. They acquired 45 acres in the 'Quebrada de Macul', historically the heart of the Maipo Valley vineyards, and Viña Aquitania was born. In January 2003, Ghislain de Montgolfier (CEO of Bollinger Champagne), became the fourth musketeer.

December 24, 2009 - couldn't even drink it and scared to cook with it.

November 1, 2009 - funky and earthy on the nose. Dusty cherries (like when you eat off the tree w/o washing them), cranberries and earth. Mellow.

August 19, 2009 - Darkish red, funky nose of barnyard, dirt, some 'poop' and a bit of fruit. Different but not exactly enticing on the nose.
On the taste, yikes - worst than the nose. The less appealing aspects of the nose was even more dominant on the taste. I found it really quite unpleasant - poured the rest of the glass down the sink.
This was recommended as a buy by Gary V on WL and this is by far the biggest "miss" in my opinion of all Gary's recommendations.

July 31, 2009 - I really wish I had written down some tasting notes. Not good. I was hoping it would brighten up after a bit of decanting but no....just a bitter wine. The either sucked from day one or should have been consumed 8-9 yrs ago.
