July 1, 2019 - It was very slow to open. Should have decanted. Very nice Cab. Maybe a bit too "rich" in my opinion. Too chocolate rich and warm. That said we enjoyed it especially the last glass.

May 4, 2019 - I realize now the bottle I drank 5 years ago wasn’t ready yet. Dunn Howell Mountain needs 12 plus years to come around and show its greatness. This bottle was just perfection. This was the best Cab I have had in a long time. The nose just jumps out of the glass. It has a European barnyard nose but its subtle. Dark red/black color. Because of the color & nose two people guessed Barolo.

Finish goes on forever. Layer after layer Of unctuous fruit in complete balance and harmony. Cabernet really doesn’t get much better than this. If you have this wine, don’t share it. Drink it with a loved one. My last bottle I am going to be selfish with and just drink it with my wife. 95 points is probably too low. It’s probably 97 or 98 points. I could see somebody scoring this 100. It’s that good.

I decanted this an hour. I tried it 20 minutes after decanting and it was good but not great. Another 40-45 minutes it was a different story. It put on weight & complexity during that time. It continued to improve while we were drinking it. I almost cried when it was finished.

May 2, 2019 - Quite refreshing compared to the 06 Shafer HSS.

I've always had the impression that Dunn needs to age forever, however for the 07 that is obviously not the case.

Howell Mountain fruit is quite recognizable presented in a very fresh and earthy presentation. Not a bombastic fruit bomb like Robert + Rogers or incredibly inky and rocky like the Lail Daniel it strikes a good balance between these two different styles of Howell Mountain cabs.

Fresh blackberries, currants, tilled earth and mint. Pencil shavings are prominent as well. It's taut yet expressive.

January 13, 2019 - Dark and brooding. Dense and packed flavors of balckberry and cola. Very integrated tannins and this definitely not an old school Dunn. Clean finish and very portpotionate. One of the best young Dunn HMs I have ever had and is a top 2007 Napa example.
