August 18, 2019 - Our first bottle of these. Horrible. No fruit, all tannins. Recorked for a couple days and tried again, it was worse. Assuming a bad bottle given the other reviews.

February 22, 2019 - The star of the evening. Tasting this wine felt like watching Heat for the first time. Speechless amazement followed by "you have to watch this shit, at least 70 times" to everybody I know. Even though the fruit here is almost fully developed, all the structural elements of the wine point to more glorious bottle aging. Second time trying Sagrantino, but I'm in love. Tasted blind, guessed Dingač 2006.

June 6, 2018 - Wilson Daniels: Celebrating 40 Years (The Lakewood - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Big, rich and dense throughout, with so much concentration and fruit, even if presently showing mouth puckering tannins. Cellar until 2025 or later.

April 8, 2017 - Opera Wine 2017 - 100 Great Producers (Verona, Italy): { OperaWine2017, Verona } Not a particularly harmonious wine, but there's no denying it's a powerful wine. Too much wood influence showing up in the form of espresso grounds and dark, semi-roasted fruit. Average+ acidity is the great redeemer here, but for it, this would be a gelatinous mess. The tannins have yet to fully resolve, but if you want to try one anytime soon, give it 3-4 hours of air in decanter, or better, just wait another 3-4 years and hope for some further integration. Absolutely begs for food, and in the interest of fairness, I think Sagrantino should be reviewed in that context - but I only had some grissini, and that really doesn't count. HOLD.
