October 17, 2017 - Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Darker core with violet rim; oak, creamy, plusher dark cherry, juicy, some stem; more density for Pinot, some grip and alcohol, some Cola, sweet and drinkable though needs some time, touch of heat on finish, good density, elegant and primary; nobody on Cabernet with this, too soft and silky.

March 19, 2016 - When I first tasted this wine out of our cellar a few years ago, I would have bet it was a dog. Great that it eventually came around. This was our last bottle. Nice. Still, not-so-great QPR.

June 28, 2015 - Not sure which of my last two reviews applies to this wine. This bottle was not as non-remarkable as two bottles ago, but it also wasn't as WOW as our last bottle. Solid, with mediocre QPR.

April 11, 2015 - See my 11/17/13 notes on the first bottle we tried from our cellar. I panned this wine. At the time, it wasn't that the wine was bad, it was just that the wine was disappointing, especially for the "No. 1" from Reverie. I tasted absolutely nothing that would have suggested, again at that time, that this wine was going anywhere good. Indeed, I thought it had permanently gone flat. Well, what is the saying, "Time heals all wounds?" And can improve wines that seemingly have no hope of improvement. We drank this wine on a Saturday evening with prime filets (props to Orchard Meats) and ceasar salads. It was great. Despite being almost eight years out from harvest, the big, red fruit Napa bouquet and tastes were there. You could almost smell the sweetness, the roundness and length. Smell some moist tobacco and freshly cut cedar, and then taste a little vanilla. Yes, the oak treatment was showing, but in a good, supportive way that winemakers strive for. Very long and lingering taste, all the way front to back. I simply couldn't drink enough of it. The wine would have been perfect by itself. Paired with a medium prime filet that had been infrared seared, this wine was all that the best of Napa cabernets can be. Final comment: I see now why some have said that Diamond Mountain wines can often take a lot of time to evolve. Can't wait to taste the next bottle.

December 6, 2014 - Fantastic California Cabernet. I purchased this several years ago and didn't think it would ever mature into a great wine - I couldn't have been more off base. This Cab is drinking perfectly now. We decanted for about 30 minutes. I cannot wait to dig into the other bottles in my cellar.
