  February 6, 2021 - Classic barrel-aged white with a somewhat Spanish vibe to it - moderately oxidative, oldschool Rioja comes to mind. Ripe-fruited and texturally smooth, with mellow acidity, unremarkable alcohol and well-integrated vanilla oak. As the bottle spent its first fifteen years in the Ronchi di Cialla cellar, the wine is in excellent shape, with years ahead in proper storage. A great food companion with baked cod under a cover of chopped marcona almonds, chanterelles and green cabbage, served with a saffron butter sauce.

  May 26, 2020 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. A blend of 60% Ribolla Gialla, 30% Picolit and 10% Verduzzo Friulano, all vinified dry, with a bit of oak. Clear, medium gold, showing its age and the pigmentation of the Picolit. Med (+) to pronounced aromas of ripe, baked, yellow orchard fruit, lemon, bruised white peach, orange peel, almonds and vanilla. As if Manzanilla Sherry and an aged dry Chenin had a baby. Dry, with med to med (+) acidity and alcohol (13.5%). Med (+) to pronounced flavor intensity and length, consistent with the nose. Very interesting albeit a tad past its prime. Drink up.

  July 20, 2009 - Crazy interesting nose. Green olives, slate, and lemon. Great acidity for a 2000 - still alive and kicking. Also has incredible weight and complexity for a $9 wine. Probably the best value wine of the year for me so far.
