October 12, 2022 - Talbot/Gruaud/Lagrange at Piccolino (Piccolino, Exchange Square, London): Very kindly offered by Neil. Lovely Cornas nose showing bacon, blood, touch of tapenade. Medium bodied, savoury bacon, blood again, spicy fresh acidit, finishes a touch short, but very enjoyable.

October 12, 2022 - Talbot / Gruaud Larose / Lagrange Dinner (Piccolino, Exchange Square, London): A brucey bonus northern Rhone kindly donated by RZ. This is a cracking mature wine. Nose has freshly sliced champignon de Paris to start with a sweet bacon and spiced red fruit character. Later some black olive and brine emerge as my table mates correctly observe. Out organiser suggests some coffee grounds, I think so in the background and I also detect some lime zest in the melange. What a lovely tread to end the evening. Not scored in the Wine of Night computational model.

December 10, 2021 - Most Splendid Game Dinner: Final bottle of these and if not the best, definitely up there with the better ones. Still vibrant fruit, a lot of camp fire and rolling tobacco. Clearly the weakest wine of a glorious flight, but showed decently I thought.

December 9, 2021 - Gareth's glorious game dinner (Canary Wharf): Nicely rounded and tertiary, with no particular element standing out: a real 'all rounder'. Some juicy fruit, a bit of meat, ample vitality and even some grip.

August 3, 2017 - Definite bricking at the rim. Fairly expressive, very developed nose. Good mouthfeel. good length. Quite a bit of grip on the finish. Slightly musty on the palate (and nose), but with a core of pleasant aged Syrah. Lacks concentration. Just hanging in there, really. Nice enough if you're into old wine, but not 'exciting' as such.
