Medium garnet, wide pale garnet rim. Aromatic, developed nose - leather, tobacco. Medium bodied, leather and cigar-box on the palate, earth, savoury, fresh acidity, falls away a touch on the finish but interesting and still enjoyable.

Deep ruby/garnet core, very narrow pale rim. Youthful, quite rich dark fruited nose. Touch of mocha, cedar. Medium/full bodied, lovely pure dark fruit, quite rich, really suave tannins, vibrant acidity, very good length Really excellent - at least the third time I’ve had this wine with consistent notes.

2/2, medium garnet core, pale garnet rim. Classic nose of cool blackcurrant fruit, cedar, touch of gravel. Medium bodied, leanish, with blackcurrant fruit, gravel notes, cedar, fresh/vibrant acids, medium/good length slightly spare finish. Enjoyable though, probably best drink in next 3-5 years.

Flight 3 (3 notes)

Red
2010 Château Talbot France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
92 points
Served quite cold. Very deep ruby. Youthful nose with blackcurrants to the fore, but also some gamey savouriness in the background. Medium/full bodied with more structure (acidity and tannin) than the 2009, plenty of rich dark fruit too, some attractive gravel notes, good length finish. Quite liked this.

Deep ruby. Dark fruit again on the nose but some lovely gravelly complexity. Medium bodied, rich dark fruit, cedar, spice, gravel, really fine, supple tannins, long finish. Approachable already, my favourite of the Talbots tonight.

Quite sweet fruited, a touch simple. Touch of caramel. Lacks a bit of rigour and interest.

A touch closed, but with rich, dark fruit. Quite full bodied, blackcurrants, earth, spice - rich and mouthfilling, soft tannins, attractive vibrant acidity, carrying an extended and actually already quite harmonious finish. Drinkable now.

Very kindly offered by Neil. Lovely Cornas nose showing bacon, blood, touch of tapenade. Medium bodied, savoury bacon, blood again, spicy fresh acidit, finishes a touch short, but very enjoyable.
