Community Tasting Notes 4

December 1, 2023 - Second bottle from a case. I think I might have rated this too harshly last time. Beautiful MSD from a cool vintage. Carried more by acidity of course but very precise and aromatic with wood spices and earthy notes. Light to medium body, tannins fully integrated but will still carry the wine for at least another 5 years. Good length.91-92

June 4, 2023 - Recent purchase and a very decent 2007. Opened after a solid 2007 Grivot VR Beaux Monts and this is clearly much darker fruited with plenty of earthy notes. The fruit is a bit lean on day 1 but on day 2 from a half full bottle kept in the fridge this is rounder and richer. Good weight for the vintage and a nice wine at a fraction of the price of the Beaux Monts. Can drink now but will for sure easily last another 5-6 years. 89-90

August 28, 2019 - Recent purchase, and I think slightly heat damaged (moist under capsule, cork well soaked through). Ripe black berries throughout with roasted meat and more earth than I'd expect at this age. Best when popped-and-poured, then clearly less fruit once open an hour. 86-87 points tonight, but I don't know if representative.

July 20, 2013 - Some Cote de Nuits 2007 at the Cottage: This comes from one miniscule parcel crossing the boundary of two 1er Crus: Les Blanchards and Clos Baulet. Around 50% new oak, which I felt was a bit obtrusive at this age still, and not yet totally integrated. Some of the others in our group didn’t see the problem. Apart from that, this seems to be a well made wine, dark toned and rather masculine meaty in style, requiring a couple of more years of sleep. The structure is quite prominent too.
