April 19, 2020 - Perhaps not terribly complex, but inarguably delicious with a tart cherry, cranberry nose which expands and expands with air, accented by just a hint of cinnamon and rose. Lovely, without doubt.

May 28, 2018 - Dark chery red with strawberry rim. Medium intensive nose of lightly poached rasberries with some black berries as well, forrest floor and a little black pepper. In the mouth light to medium bodied, velvety tannins; a fluid, vivid texture. This is simply very enjoyable. The one weakness: it could be a bit longer in the mouth. I ask myself though why I still read from time to time that 2007 was a lesser vintage? I think it is a very pretty one, that has been giving pleasure for the past two, three years already and continues to do so, as this bottle in fine form demonstrates.

May 14, 2018 - Left open 3 hours before serving, elected to not decant -- worked fine but will decant the next one. Garnet with some orange. Stone, red berries and floral notes on nose. Medium (-) weight fruit enveloped by equal parts mineral acidity and tannins. Underlying richness of fruit. Great with food and the nose continued to transform throughout the evening, taking on more asian spice and earth notes. Amazing bargain and with many years to develop.

April 1, 2017 - PNP. There is good balance to the nose of red and black fruit over floral notes. At first the tannins were a bit prominent/rustic, but after about thirty minutes they settled nicely. A very good wine and quite enjoyable. Drinking well now, and I would expect further improvement.

November 16, 2015 - A touch of volatile acidity upon opening, strong red fruits and earth on nose. medium bodied, grippy tannins, high acidity. Tart red fruits and earth with a strong mineral componant. Seems like its gaining tertiary flavors at this point. It gained complexity and body and was best at the 3 hr mark. Will try the other 1/2 of the bottle tomorrow. Drink or hold.

September 21, 2014 - Intensive nose of red berries and bramble with a strong 'dark' foundation, that is difficult to grasp; the most concrete association might be 'hints of burnt tyre' and earth. In the mouth the medium acidity is well balanced, tannins surprisingly grippy for an Île de Vergelesses. Overall I'd say the 2006 is more approachable and more forward right now.

December 19, 2012 - Not quite as open as other 2007s I've been having. Still very grippy and a little tannic on the finish. Not a lot of acidity, but not at all flabby - very round mouthfeel. Shows nice potential, but I think it still needs time.

November 16, 2011 - I like this but it's not near GC quality as the BH note would suggest. The nose is reticent, offering up some red fruit and minerals - palate is full and broad but not complex at all. Again, a fine drink but don't believe the hype.

May 10, 2011 - Medium intense and complex nose of dark berry fruits. Dense mid-palate, tannic, big and full, rich medium length finish. Really quite good for the price.
