January 28, 2024 - Hmm, given the recent enthusiastic reviews, I was a bit disappointed.
In the nose this was classic with poached fruit, but not exuberant. In the mouth I found the slightly bitter and still coarse tannins dominated over fruit.
Overall decent, but not more. Maybe some bottle variation?

December 3, 2023 - OMG - this is class. Forgive men as first bottle of 6 and i don't usually drink at this price point but it's velvet with such nuanced flavours and a wonderful accompaniment to a venison stew. I will drink happily over next 2 years or so

January 15, 2023 - Clear, red colour. Cherry, raspberry on nose. Dusty tannins. Raspberry and cherries. Slightly tight but opened after an hour or so. Possibly needs more time to fully express itself.

January 13, 2023 - Approachable upon opening but we waited for a decant of 2 hours. Got a glass here now and the color is dark ruby red and youthful in appearance. The nose is floral with typical Bordeaux aromas. The front of the palate is fruit forward with blackberries, cassis, unsweetened dark chocolate, dark fruit, and pencil lead and enough chewy tannins for a nice long finish. We did not notice any stewed fruit components or off flavors. a 1-2 hour decant is sufficient. This wine is absolutely delicious.

July 17, 2022 - I think I'm somewhere between Fussyeater and Nicka on this one. The plushness of a Pomerol is missing, but it is still a very dark colour and opened up a lot over an hour at dinner; maybe it needs more time

April 22, 2022 - Crimson. Leather armchair, black cherry aniseed and smoke on the nose. On the palate there is a core of blackcherry, a little raspberry and hint of licorice and structure to evolve for many years. The tannins are a little dusty and unfortunately it came across as too hot and lacking in freshness even if there is a little lift on the finish. Pretty 1D tbh. BTG from Zalto Bdx

March 8, 2021 - Deep dive into Pomerol with Jane Anson (Zoom!): La Pointe is from a lighter type of terroir. One of the larger estates in the appellation, it was taken over in 2007 and the wines have much improved. It has an easy-drinking reputation – typical Pomerol, but accessible. 85% Merlot, 15% CF.

Really gorgeous – depth without weight. Loads of cocoa, truffle, burned meat, in a featherlight shell. There’s enough structure, but it’s very approachable already – the sense of rigidity comes more from the darkness of the flavours rather than the tannins (although they are noticeable, they are incredibly silky). Good value.
