August 30, 2023 - Some volatiles on the nose, color bricking. Still very tannic. I’d say this is past its prime but still enjoyable. Drink up!

May 16, 2020 - Zoom blind tasting #4: Bordeaux (At home during circuit breaker): A lovely little wine; crafted in a slightly more modern style, but still clearly from Bordeaux. The nose had a nice lift of dark cherries and plums, some sweet spice, a twist of herb, and then just a touch of dark chocolate and sandy mineral. Very right-bank in its character. It had a lovely feel on the palate too - very fresh, with juicy acidity and lovely velvety tannins wrapped around a lively core of dark cherry and blackberry fruit, this time seasoned with a lovely flush of spice and just a little twist of mineral at the finish. Still youthful, even a bit primary, but this was really enjoyable. A really elegant wine, and with such great energy to it. While delicious today though, I would leave happily leave it aside for a few more years for it to fan out and develop a touch more complexity.

March 28, 2018 - Dim Sum Club at Imperial Treasure Teochew (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Takashimaya): Enjoyable. Quite remarkably so for a Chateau only making its second vintage actually. It was a bit bigger and burlier than I would normally prefer - this was a world away from the light, sleek 1997 Pavie Decesse that we had alongside, but good wine nonetheless. I liked the nose here. Plums, ripe berries and a nice bit of savoury earthiness and spice. Nice. The palate was just about coming around into drinkability too, with slightly powdery tannins having softened into a velvety robe, and good, full flavours of red cherries and berries and plums, all nice and juicy on the midpalate and into a nicely plump finish. A little drift of spice on the backpalate rounded it off nicely. Enjoyable, especially with a bit of beef - I think it should benefit with a bit more time in the bottle though. Try again in 2022 onwards.

6/13/2007 (link)(La Fleur Morange St. Emilion) 2000 Bordeaux Dear Friends, In the days leading up to VinExpo in Bordeaux (one of the biggest circus-like wine fairs in the world) lots can be uncovered and this pristine stash of 2000 Bordeaux in a perfect example. With the incessant fervor over 2003, 2005 and (increasingly) 2006 (as one of the great overlooked vintages in recent memory - although I’m not sure how overlooked it is as prices are not what I would call bargains by any means), everyone needs to take a step back and remember there are still exceptional 2000, 2001 and 2002 wines in the pipeline - all at pre-insanity prices. I simply cannot think of a reason to plonk down money on 2006 futures of any kind when wine like this from the 2000 vintage is still available? The 2000 Bordeaux vintage was hailed as the “vintage of the century” only a few years ago and the 5+ years of bottle age has only reinforced how magnificent they are. La Fleur Morange produced a beautiful wine in 2000 and its evolution to this point is in line with the best 2000 Bordeaux. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is still drinking well in two decades. In sum, this is a pretty exceptional bottle of St. Emilion for a price that (in today’s post-2005 Bordeaux world) looks like a charity donation: ONE SMALL SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance: 2000 La Fleur Morange Grand Cru (St. Emilion) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord8930
